Job Summary
Position Summary: The Sustainable Energy VISTA will work to improve Sustaining Way's efficiency and effectiveness in energy and mold remediation related programs in Nicholtown and other low income communities.
The VISTA project will accomplish this by increasing resident participation in the Healthy Home program and activities, developing and implementing energy related impact measures, developing and organizing processes and procedures for SW energy programs, increasing energy efficiency educational offerings and increasing volunteer engagement in energy efficiency related initiatives.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Document and organize processes and procedures related to the Healthy Home Program and other energy related programs and activities including the Congregational Energy Efficiency Challenge (CEEC) Program
Recruit and onboard new members of the community to join the Healthy Homes program
Identify and engage energy expert volunteers and community partners to support SW's energy programs, projects and activities
Coordinate energy related volunteers to support the HH program
Organize energy educational opportunities (events, training, workshops, etc.)
Analyze and increase visibility of energy usage and production on site and develop actions and projects for site energy improvements
Develop a model training plan for the Energy Coordinator position
Develop and track energy efficiency impact measures for the various energy programs
Host on-site tours and educational programming for general public, including open houses and special events; educate visitors and volunteers about sustainable energy and energy efficiency
Establish, develop, and strengthen connections/partnerships with other local non-profits, businesses, schools, faith/interfaith organizations, and other groups to further Sustaining Way's Mission
QUALIFICATIONS:
Well aligned to Sustaining Ways Mission and Values;
Passion for sustainability and environmental/social justice;
Desire and potential to develop into a leader in social/environmental justice;
Skills/interest in energy efficiency, weatherization, construction;
Good organizational and time management skills; proactive and seif-motivated;
Ability to perform light construction activities;
Works well in team environment;
Ability/desire to live/demonstrate now to live a simpler more sustainable life and lead others how to do the same;
Undergraduate degree, Associate degree, and/or some college;
Energy related experience: 1 year (Preferred).
