About Soul Fire Farm: Soul Fire Farm is an Afro-Indigenous centered community farm committed to uprooting racism and seeding sovereignty in the food system. Our food sovereignty programs reach over 60,000 people each year, including farmer training for Black and Brown growers, reparations and land return initiatives for northeast farmers, food justice workshops for urban youth, home gardens for city-dwellers living under food apartheid, doorstep harvest delivery for food insecure households, and systems and policy education for public decision-makers. About the Position: The Front Office Communications Coordinator is often the first point of contact for people looking to engage with Soul Fire Farm, and is responsible for ensuring that our community members are met with prompt, kind, and clear communication. The Front Office Communications Coordinator monitors the organization’s email, booking and media request forms and voicemail messages.
Front Office Communications Coordinator Duties
Front Office Administrative Support (6-8 Hours)
Front Office: Respond to love@soulfirefarm.org emails daily. Forward messages to programs@soulfirefarm.org and other staff as appropriate. Maintain the inbox organized.
Google Voice Communications: Provide administrative support in responding to voicemail messages.
General Administration: Support with additional administrative tasks as needed, mainly front office communications.
Bookings Administrative Support (6-8 Hours)
Monitor and maintain the bookings@soulfirefarm.org email inbox organized.
Respond to bookings requests for public speaking, media, workshops, etc.
Maintain events tracking Airtable bases indicating the status of each booking.
Refer bookings requests to the appropriate staff person or refer the applicant to the Speakers Collective based on our decision-tree.
Community Relations/Outreach (2 Hours)
Participate in relationship building and tabling events with Capital District youth programs, neighborhood associations, churches etc.
Back-up light hosting for Campus Rental Visits
Required Skills and Experience:
Outstanding writing, editing, and verbal communication skills.
Excellent initiative and follow-through, including in remote positions
Commitment to excellence, efficient work practices, and pride in a job well done.
Technology literacy with Google Suite and Airtable (encouraged but not required)
Experience with social media and communications (encouraged but not required)
High attention to detail.
Emotional intelligence, treats others with kindness, respect, and compassion.
Able to work collaboratively with people from diverse backgrounds in terms of race, ethnicity, gender (including trans* and nonbinary individuals and communities), sexual orientation, class, and religion.
Experience living and working in communities of color, including fluency in Black, Indigenous, and/or Latinx cultural reference points.
Familiarity with Black and Indigenous agrarian and food systems history and context.
Life experience living and working with economically disadvantaged and underserved communities preferred.
Applicants who are already familiar with the national farming & food justice landscape are preferred.
