Financial Manager
The Financial Manager will oversee the financial operations of Delta Fresh Foods Initiative (DFF), ensuring accurate financial management, compliance with grant and organizational requirements, and effective communication with stakeholders.
This position plays a key role in maintaining the organization's fiscal health and providing financial insights to support strategic decision-making.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Payroll Management:
Manage payroll processes, ensuring accuracy and compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
2. Budgeting and Financial Oversight:
Develop and set up budgets for all grants with detailed line items.
• Monitor budgets and payments to ensure alignment with grant and organizational requirements.
3. QuickBooks Management:
Maintain and update financial records in QuickBooks.
Perform monthly bank reconciliation and ensure data accuracy.
4. Auditing and Reporting:
Collaborate with the accounting firm to conduct audits and prepare end-of-year financial statements.
Provide information to the accounting firm for 1099s.
Prepare a comprehensive report at the end of the contract period to reflect deliverables.
5. Monthly Financial Reporting:
Deliver monthly financial reports to the board, including balance sheets, income statements, and updates aligned with QuickBooks data.
6. Procurement and Administrative Tasks:
Oversee and process requisitions for organizational needs.
Ensure timely submission of monthly timesheets
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree with an emphasis in accounting, business administration, and/or finance, or related field
Two to three years of accounting experience
Proficiency in QuickBooks and other financial management tools.
Strong understanding of grant budgeting and reporting requirements.
Ability to collaborate effectively with accounting firms and organizational leadership.
Excellent verbal, written networking, organizational and time management skills.
Ability to work a flexible schedule to meet critical deadlines, including some evenings and weekends.
Payroll management skills
Ability to monitor budgets and payments/ monthly bank reconciliations
Oversee and process requisitions
Preferred Skills:
Familiarity with nonprofit financial management.
Knowledge of food systems, community engagement, and racial equity initiatives.
